Islanders End Season Hosting Ottawa

There was hope when the Islanders finished their 4-2 win on Saturday that Sunday’s game may mean something, but a Toronto Maple Leafs win hours later ended the Islanders playoff chances and rendered the Isles season effectively over.

New York will finish out a disappointing 2016-17 campaign at the Barclays Center against the Ottawa Senators. The Islanders are looking to finish the season on a positive note and win their sixth consecutive game.

The Islanders have had their struggles against the Sens, dropping both of their previous meetings with them. They fell 6-2 at Barclays Center in December and were shutout 3-0 on the road in February.

This season will be the first time since 2014 that the Islanders failed to make the postseason.
