Islanders Recall Bracken Kearns On Emergency Basis

With Casey Cizikas and Cal Clutterbuck banged up after last night’s 3-1 victory in Detroit, the Islanders decided to make a move for a fresh body. The team placed Shane Prince on IR, retroactive  to 2/12, and recalled Bracken Kearns from AHL Bridgeport. Kearns, 35, is the Sound Tigers’ leading scorer with 18 goals and 22 assists.

Kearns played two games for the Islanders last year, notching an assist. In total, he has played 33 NHL games collecting three goals, and three assists.

Art Staple reports there are no current updates on the status of the two aforementioned walking wounded. The Isles have off in Montreal today, and assuming nothing changes with the status of Cizikas and Clutterbuck, you’re likely to see at least one of Stephen Gionta or Kearns in the lineup tomorrow night in Montreal.
