The Islanders called up forward Connor Jones, the team announced on Saturday.
Jones is a third year pro and has 18 points (five goals, 13 assist) in 56 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Jones signed a one-year, two-way deal on February 22 with the Islanders for the remainder of the season.
The 25-year-old’s was recalled to fill a spot on the roster that is open due to the injury to John Tavares. The Islanders captain left Friday’s 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils late in the third period with a lower body injury. Tavares awkwardly fell behind the Devils’ net while chasing a loose puck.
Tavares is listed as week-to-week with the injury and will miss the final five games of the Islanders’ regular season.
